By combining an integrated test facility that would lower the operational cost of delivery while maintaining maximum flexibility and sensitive information partitioning, PCA offered Northrop Grumman the perfect fit for its $16 million, 3-story avionics test lab. The adjacent pole model tower is designed to accommodate the latest “shell”-fuselage fighter jet from the US military. The pole model will test advanced avionics while simulating in-flight conditions such as attack angle and pitch. Directly below the test model is Northrop Grumman’s direct-avionics lab. This lab was carefully designed and positioned to replicate a jet fighter’s flight environments. A series of cable-tray management systems for all utilities were designed for each floor with central busway shafts for interconnection.
