This design-classified military building houses the manufacturing facility for General Atomic’s persistent Multi-mission ISR and Strike Aircraft, the Predator. General Atomics is a nuclear physics and defense contractor headquartered in San Diego, California. PCA provide full Architectural services for the complete remodel of the interior spaces including exterior support functions and infrastructure redesign. The project scope included 170,000 sf of Manufacturing and testing within office tenant improvements. The PCA-designed facility houses General Atomics’ manufacturing space for the Predator unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The Predator’s objective is to perform multi mission low- to high-altitude surveillance, reconnaissance, and “Hunter-Killer” missions. With a wing span of 66 feet and gross weight of over 10,000 pounds, the power of this machine hones such weapons as Hellfire missiles, GBU-12 laser-guided bombs, and GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munitions.
